Plouëc-du-Trieux

5km from cottage

Although there's a great bar in the village, the nearest shops are in Plouëc-du-Trieux. This is a short drive away from Pont Camarel, and has a very good boulangerie. Turn left out of the property, go over the bridge, and cross the main road to enter the village.

Pontrieux

9km from cottage

This is a small town a mile or so further on from Plouëc. There is a small Intermarche supermarket on the right as you enter the town. Pontrieux itself is very pretty, especially in summer.

During the summer months Pontrieux becomes is a riot of colour, with flowers everywhere, even covering the boats moored on the river! We recommend a relaxing boat trip through this picturesque town at that time of year, to see the old wash-houses on the river's edge and boats full of beautiful blooms.

Guingamp

16km from cottage

Guingamp is the nearest large town, about ten minutes' drive away to the south. It has a charming town square, with half-timbered houses, and a market every Friday morning.

There are two large supermarkets close to the centre—Carrefour and LeClerc—which stock everything you will need. Both have excellent seafood counters, and usually good offers on wine.

Beaches

30-40km from cottage

The beauty of Pont Camarel is enhanced by its location in the Côtes d'Armor, which boasts over 220 miles of coastline. There's bound to be a beach to suit you, and all of them are within a short drive.

This region is less frequented by tourists than other parts of Brittany, which means quieter beaches even in high season. We think Pont Camarel is ideally situated for exploring a very beautiful region.

To the north-west, north and east are Tregastel, Ploumanec, Perros-Guirec, Plouha, St Quay Portriex, Binic... but the nicest beaches are often those discovered by chance. There are some delightful times to be spent on secluded beaches, but make sure you can find them again, next time you go in search of the sea!
