The cottage

The cottage and facilities

Pont Camarel is a charming, secluded, 19th-century stone cottage. It is situated in a wooded dell, on the edge of a quiet village in the Côtes d'Armor. Set in three-quarters of an acre of meadowland, it is bounded by a quiet stream, forded by the small bridge which gives the house its name.

The ground floor consists of:

  • one large room with a living area, focussed on an open fireplace, and a dining area
  • a newly-refitted kitchen off this room
  • a new downstairs bedroom with ensuite shower and WC

A wooden staircase leads upstairs to two bedrooms: one double and one triple. That means that in total the cottage can sleep seven with ease. Also upstairs is a bathroom and WC.

The gardens and surrounding woods

To the front of the cottage is a lawned garden, ideal for sunbathing or eating al fresco. If you're feeling energetic, there's a lawnmower provided! To the side of the cottage is a quiet, tree-filled meadow. Salmon and trout have been seen in the stream, and although we can't guarantee them fresh for the barbecue you're welcome to try your hand at a spot of fishing.

The nearby towns and villages

The nearest village to the cottage is small but very quaint. The church is very picturesque, and the sound of its bells punctuate the passage of the day as they have done for centuries.

For basic supplies you will find a bar/shop in the village. There are also pistes close by if you fancy a game of boules.

Further afield are the village of Plouëc, with a local boulangerie, and the small town of Pontrieux where there is a small Intermarche. There's more information on the local towns if you're interested, and there are beautiful beaches to be explored, along the coastlines of the Côtes d'Armor.
